Overseas Programs

HOPE International Development Agency Japan's projects and programs will ensure that thousands of the world's poorest people living in Asia and in Africa receive the help they need to build a better life for themselves, their families and their communities.

Summer 2009: This part of our website is undergoing a re-construction. Please check back soon for updated content and topics!

Our projects and programs are people-centered and community-focused:

Clean Water and Sanitation

Giving families and communities access to sustainable supplies of clean water for drinking and irrigating vegetable gardens and fields that produce food and income.

HIV/AIDS Prevention

Reducing the spread of HIV/AIDS through health awareness and disease prevention initiatives delivered at the community level.

Education and Literacy

Education programs for children and adults that create learning opportunities that result in lives transformed and freed from poverty.

Sustainable Agriculture

Helping families grow enough food to feed themselves and their communities by providing agricultural training, tools and seeds.

Emergencies and Rehabilitation

Saving lives in times of disaster or conflict and helping survivors rebuild their lives, livelihoods and communities better than they were.

Women and Gender

Helping women and girls realize their full potential and improve their standard of living.

Microfinance

Providing modest, low-interest loans through community-run microfinance programs that enable women and families to start and run small businesses that generate income and self-reliance.

Peacebuilding

Promoting understanding and dialogue in areas of conflict.
