UNION trips are now being planned for Cambodia and the Philippines for the summer of 2011. UNION trips are study tours in which you will learn about the issues facing extremely poor communities and how you can be involved in a solution. UNION is more about giving the participants the opportunity to learn and grow than it is about completing a project but participants will be expected to perform some physical tasks as a part of the program.

 

This year’s trip to Cambodia trip will be from August 10 - 21 while the Philippines trip will be from August 3 – 10.

 

In both cases, participants are expected to cover all of their own expenses and also raise a minimum of ¥50,000 for the cost of the actual project. Projects vary but it may be the contribution to the construction of a school, water system or community center, among others.
