Education for Children
(Reaching out to Indigenous People)

Project Background:
Concentrated in the rural south, there are 12 major indigenous groups in the Philippines that are often caught in an unbreakable cycle of poverty and discrimination. Families with very low wages that are sufficient only to meet their basic needs do not have the means, even with hard work, to send their children to school. For children of these indigenous groups access to education and the opportunities an education would open up do not exist.

Project Description:
This project is part of a family support program intended to reach minority indigenous groups in the Philippines. The aim is to provide is a solid elementary school education that opens up the opportunity to enter secondary school and a bright future. Without this many children would suffer the same fate as their parents. Necessary resource materials for children and the community are also provided as well as education on hygiene and nutrition and health.
