As members and supporters of HOPE International Development Agency Japan, (HOPE-JP) we are all deeply saddened by the loss of life and destruction of property in Northern Japan and are very concerned for the survivors and their ongoing welfare as they begin the process of rebuilding lives.

HOPE-JP's mandate is to support the many needy families around the world, helping them to achieve self-reliance. We will be faithful to our mission to these very needy people caught in chronic and debilitating poverty.

However, in response to this great tragedy within our community and the many inquiries from HOPE-JP's supporters, HOPE-JP has created the HOPE for Japan Fund, for those who desire to give through HOPE International Development Agency in Japan to the helpless and needy in Northern Japan.

In keeping with our philosophy of working with local grassroots organizations, we will establish partnerships and focus the funds on medium and long-term support, especially in areas where people are most in need.

HOPE-JP is now actively involved in advising organizations involved in a response and making contact with organizations and individuals at a grassroots level who are reaching out. Within 48 hours, a HOPE Trustee (and medical doctor) will be visiting the area in a professional capacity and will be assessing the need on behalf of HOPE-JP.
