Testimonials UNION 2010

This last trip provided me with an experience that stimulated me to think about my own values.
On the trip, I strongly felt that a real sense of happiness existed in the people who had hope and were working for a better tomorrow, even if the environment they were in was lacking in various ways, and that that was what we used to have in Japan. I also felt that currently in Japan, where this sense of happiness is being lost, we must remember its importance. Hiroshi (Employee)
In the past I was, of course, concerned about poverty issues but I think that I separated them from my own life. After spending time with the native people on the trip, I realized that their problems are also our problems. Also, on the trip I was deeply touched by watching the younger participants overcome the language barrier, deepen their relationships with the students, and developing by learning things every day.

This study tour was my first experience of such a trip. To be honest I was really worried about whether I would be able to properly take part in a trip with people I don’t know, with people living in a place completely different to Japan. That anxiety vanished before I knew it and thanks to the beaming smiles and kindness of the students living in Pamulaan I experienced things that I haven’t been able to do on past trips and had a really wonderful time.
