Understanding the unique relationship between water and poverty

2011 HOPE (UNION) Trip to Cambodia

HOPE Japan's UNION trip for 2011 is planned for August in Pursat Province, Cambodia. UNION stands for Understanding Needs In Other Nations and, just like its name, this trip will provide an opportunity for participants to see first-hand how issues of poverty are being dealt with in the developing world, and how we can be a part of helping people out of poverty. Union can also be described as a Study Tour.

The team will spend two weeks in Pursat Province, Cambodia working on various projects and learning firsthand the connection between water and poverty. There will be plenty of opportunities to get to know the people of Cambodia and their culture through extra activities which, in the past, have included time spent connecting with kids at a local orphanage as well as down time spent around town and at local markets. There is also an optional tour to Siem Reap, the famed Angkor temples, an experience that is not to be missed.

If you are interested in going to Cambodia, please send an e-mail to union@hope.or.jp and tell us a little about yourself and your motivation for going.
