- 2011 UNION Philippines
A Unique Opportunity to work and learn alongside the poor in the Philippines
2011 HOPE (UNION) Trip to the Philippines
HOPE Japan's UNION trip for 2011 is planned for August in the area of Mindoro, in the Philippines. UNION stands for Understanding Needs In Other Nations and, just like its name, this trip will provide an opportunity for participants to see first-hand how issues of poverty are being dealt with in the developing world, and how we can be a part of helping people out of poverty. Union can also be described as a Study Tour.
The team will spend a week in Mindoro helping with projects in conjunction with our partner in the Philippines, Assisi Development Foundation. Assisi, who often works with indigenous peoples supports projects for clean water and sustainable development in the area of Mindoro. The HOPE UNION team will have the experience to work along side these tribal communities in the coffee fields and in bringing clean water to the community school. Friendships will be forged as UNION team members get an idea of how they can partner with the world's poor to make a difference.
If you are interested in going to the Philippines, please send an e-mail to union@hope.or.jp and tell us a little about yourself and your motivation for going.
