Volunteering at HOPE Japan
HOPE encourages you to be actively involved in the lives of the poor. Here are a few ways you can be involved...
Give - HOPE International is directly connected with people living in poor countries who have an intimate knowledge of the effects of poverty. More importantly, they have the ability and creativity to effectively fight poverty, and they are fiercely committed to doing just that. What they lack is money.
There are many ways for volunteers to help us, and the most important is to help raise money. This can be done by organizing special events, distributing donation containers (e.g. Pakistan Earthquake 2005 Emergency Cans) and gathering groups together for a HOPE Rep to come and speak to about the work of HOPE and explain how people can get involved. Or you can sign up to our programs and make a donation.
We also need volunteers to help from time to time in the office and at special events we organize such as the annual HOPE Charity Dinner at the HILTON Hotel.
Overseas - Consider volunteering your time, skills, and energy to make a difference for people in need. Through HOPE’s UNION program you can come to know people from a poor community by living and working alongside of them. Each year HOPE organizes groups of volunteers, or UNION / UNION LITE teams, to participate in a community development initiative. In 2006 we are planning to organize trips to the Philippines, Cambodia and Ethiopia. For more information, please check UNION and UNION LITE .
