Nagoya City Marathon 2008

Date 2008 November 24th (Mon; holiday)
Even if it rains, the event is held.
Time in 7:30a.m.- 8:45a.m
Opening Ceremony

8:45a.m.~ 
(In case of unavoidable circumstances causing cancellation, an announcement will be made on CBC Radio (1,053kHz) 6:00 a.m..

Course Half Marathon, 10K, 4K
Participation fees Half Marathon : JPY 5,000
10 K : JPY 4,000
4 K Age 6 - 12 & Junior high school student : JPY 2,000
4 K Adult: High school student and above : JPY 3,000
4 K Family (Up to 4) : JPY 8,000

Participation Information:

Half Marathon: limited to 3,500 people

  • 18 or older
  • Unfortunately this category is not wheelchair friendly
  • Must be completed in under 1h55

10K: limited to 6,000 people

  • Junior high school student or older
  • Wheel chair accessible (3 wheel-wheel chair not accepted)
  • Must be completed in under 1h05m

4K: limited to 5,500 people

  • 4K- individual
    • Elementary school or older
      (*Elementary school children must be accompanied by someone over 15 years old:  A companion also needs to be officially registered and pay appropriate fees)
    • Wheel chair accessible (3 wheel-wheel chair not accepted)
  • 4K - Family (up to 4)
    • 2 adults and 2 children in elementary school or junior high school OR 1 adult and 3 children in Elementary school or junior high school.
    • Wheel chair accessible(3 wheel-wheel chair not accepted)

Note:

  • The age as of November 24
  • Japan Association of Athletics Federations members cannot participate
  • Participants 19 years old or younger need a signed agreement by their guardian/parent.
  • The visually impaired are welcome to participate but certain additional conditions apply. Please contact HOPE office for more information.

Application Method

Step One  ➞ Download, print and fill in the FAX Form (  Application Form )
Step Two  ➞ Fax your form to the HOPE Office at 052 204 0531
Step Three ➞ Pay your registration fee by bank transfer, postal transfer or fax your credit card details to HOPE office.
Step Four  ➞ You will receive your confirmation and other details in English from the HOPE Office.

  • Please note, that in due course the Japanese Organizers of the event will mail you directly your Number and other information.  HOPE will also provide you a translated copy of that information the HOPE Global Challenge Website.
  • If in case the race is full when you apply, HOPE will return your payment minus 500 yen.  If you cancel your participation, the registration fee is non refundable.

The following are the terms and conditions issued by the organizers of the race by which HOPE and all of its participants must comply

Terms and Conditions:

The Nagoya City Marathon Organizers (NCMO) does not take responsibility for all except an emergency measure on the occasion of illness and loss, other accidents

  1. NCMO cannot issue refunds for participants who cancel their involvement.
  2. False information in the application process (ie age, sex, etc) will result in a cancellation of the participant with no refund.
  3. Entry of the under 19 years old needs the agreement of the guardian/parent.
  4. In the case of cancellation by weather and a case and the accident, the NCMO will make a judgment regarding refund if any.
  5. Referred to above 2, 3, or surplus/repetition there is no refund.
  6. By signing up as a participant, you agree to allow your pictures to be taken of you and to appear on Television, Newspapers, Magazines, Internet etc.  You may also be asked for an interview.
  7. NCMO obeys the privacy laws of the personal information and deals with the personal information of the participant based on the privacy policy of the NCMO
  8. NCMO holds it according to the Terms and Conditions

Note: HOPE subscribes to all of these agreements and HOPE participants agree the same.

Number card

  • The participant will be sent "notice of number card" around November 12 directly from the NCMO. (If a notice does not arrive by around November 12, please ask the HOPE office: 052-204-0530) This notice will be in JP. However, an English version of the text will appear www.hopeglobalchallenge.com
  • On the day of the event, HOPE staff and volunteers will be available to help you check in at the NCMO Reception and receive your number card.  There will also be a HOPE Meeting Point which you will be told of in advance.

*Half Marathon and 10K: The participant will take a number card in early order of "expectation time" which you declared to be your expected time

Commendation and a record

Winning prize: Top 8 entries
There is no commendation of 4K

Note:

  • The participant takes a medical examination beforehand, and please participate in the responsibility of each person: Please stop immediately if you feel abnormality during a run
  • Costumes or unusual clothing along with signs and placards are not allowed.
  • Please take the garbage home with you.
  • Please take responsibility for your valuables.
  • The NCMO or HOPE does not bear the responsibility of theft / the loss
  • You can check in valuables for 100 yen in a checkroom. (must fit in an envelope of 24cm x 15cm)  You may not leave large sums of money or valuable items.  HOPE will also have limited space to store wallets, cell phones etc.

All Participants will receive...

  • An original Nagoya City Marathon T- shirt
  • A designer Run for HOPE T shirt
  • Entry into a raffle. Prizes include flights to Guam, Belau and Cairns
  • Prizes will also be awarded to HOPE Runners for those who raise the most money.  Prizes to be announced later.
